The fund confirmed that the investment supports a total of 18 renewable energy projects located in various towns and regions, collectively contributing an energy output of 125.591 megawatts.

“We are pleased to inform you that the GIPF has funded 18 renewable energy projects across Namibia, with a combined total output of 125.591 megawatts,” GIPF General Manager for Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement Edwin Tjiramba siad.

The projects form part of GIPF’s long-term strategy to promote sustainable energy development in line with national objectives to diversify Namibia’s energy sources and reduce reliance on imports.

In the //Karas Region, Momentous Solar One (Pty) Ltd generates 6 MW in Keetmanshoop, while rooftop solar installations across Rehoboth, Keetmanshoop, and Grootfontein contribute an additional 15 MW.

In Okatope, Oshikoto Region, Tandii Investment (Pty) Ltd and NCF Energy (Pty) Ltd each generate 5.73 MW, while Alcon Consulting Services (Pty) Ltd produces 6.318 MW in Aussenkehr. Ombepo Energy (Pty) Ltd adds 6 MW from its facility in Lüderitz.

The Erongo Region hosts Omburu Sun Energy and Osona Sun Energy, producing 5.197 MW and 6.696 MW respectively, while Otavi in the Otjozondjupa Region is home to a 6.574 MW plant operated by Sun EQ Four Investments.

HopSol Power Generation, under Anirep, operates two solar plants delivering 5.73 MW in Grootfontein and 5.61 MW in Otjiwarongo. In Rosh Pinah, Aloe Investment No.27 (Pty) Ltd contributes 5.67 MW. At the national level, Khomas Solar Saver supplies 5 MW, and Energy Utilities Holdings (Pty) Ltd generates 3 MW.

Additionally, Greenam operates two of the largest individual projects, with each plant generating 12.636 MW in Keetmanshoop and Mariental.

Tjiramba added that the duration and terms of the projects remain confidential due to existing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with respective off-takers.
