TotalEnergies Exploration and Production Namibia (TEEPNA) has opened applications for fully funded scholarships in non-petroleum fields for the 2027 academic year, targeting Namibian undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The scholarships, offered in partnership with the Petroleum Training and Education Fund (Petrofund), will support studies in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, biodiversity and environmental sustainability.
Petrofund spokesperson Shoki Kandjimi said TotalEnergies, the operator of Petroleum Exploration Licence 56 (PEL 56), will finance the scholarships, while Petrofund will administer the programme.
The 2027 Broad-Based Scholarship Programme is intended to expand education and skills development opportunities beyond the petroleum industry, supporting sectors identified as important to Namibia’s economic and social development.
According to Kandjimi, the initiative forms part of TotalEnergies’ corporate social responsibility commitments and aligns with the government’s National Upstream Local Content Policy, which promotes local skills development and the retention of economic benefits within Namibia.
The programme is also expected to strengthen skills development in education, healthcare, food security and environmental management.
Kandjimi said applications are open to Namibian citizens who meet the academic requirements of their respective programmes, with both undergraduate and postgraduate candidates eligible.
However, applicants must apply for fields of study specified in the scholarship advertisement, with selection subject to the relevant admission and programme requirements.
The scholarships will provide full funding, except where subsidised funding arrangements are already in place.
The scholarship initiative forms part of efforts to extend the benefits of Namibia’s developing petroleum industry to other sectors through education and skills development.
Petrofund said the partnership aims to equip Namibians with critical skills that contribute to national development priorities while supporting broader economic participation.
