Jauque Jansen has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer of Debmarine Namibia, with effect from the 1st of September, 2023.

Jansen is the former Senior Financial Manager at Namdeb Diamond Corporation.

He replaces Willy Mertens, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the marine diamond mining company in November of last year, following the retirement of Otto Shikongo.

A qualified chartered accountant and a graduate of the University of Namibia, Jansen also possesses a postgraduate diploma in future studies from the University of Stellenbosch’s Business School and completed the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme in 2022.

According to the latest De Beers production figures, Debmarine’s total production for the six months increased by 16% to 1.001 million carats from 0.863 million carats, largely driven by the contribution from the Benguela Gem vessel, which commenced production in March 2022.

Debmarine Namibia’s second-quarter production marginally increased by 3% to 0.503 million carats from 0.077 million carats in the second quarter of 2022.

Debmarine Namibia is a joint venture marine diamond prospecting and recovery company, owned in equal shares by the Government of Namibia and the De Beers Group.
