HOPSOL Africa has appointed electrical engineer Andries Johannes Vermeulen as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a two-year term ending in August 2028.
Vermeulen, who has more than 27 years of professional experience, took up the position on 1 September 2026 and will serve until 31 August 2028.
He succeeds Silvester Wayiti, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (NORED).
Vermeulen has extensive experience in the renewable and green energy sector, having worked across technical and leadership roles during his career.
He is also involved in the energy industry through advisory roles and serves on several boards.
HOPSOL said Vermeulen’s technical background, industry experience and leadership expertise will support the company’s strategic objectives and future development.
“The Board is confident that Mr Vermeulen’s experience, leadership and vision will contribute significantly to the continued growth and success of HOPSOL,” the company said.
HOPSOL Africa is a subsidiary of Alpha Namibia Industries Renewable Power Limited (ANIREP), a renewable energy company listed on the Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX).
