Finance and Public Enterprises Minister Ipumbu Shimi will be conducting mid-term budget review consultations in various regions across the country from 25 July to 12 August 2023, the Ministry has announced.

The Ministry said the mid-term budget review and engagement with the business community underscore the government’s dedication to ensuring that fiscal policies and programmes align with the aspirations and requirements of the various regions and sectors.

“This initiative aims to assess the progress made thus far and identify areas where adjustments may be required to ensure effective fiscal management and equitable economic growth,” the Ministry said on Monday.

The initiative, according to the Ministry, will also allow the Minister to seek input from the business community to understand their concerns, challenges, and expectations from the government.

“Through these engagements, the government aims to foster a constructive dialogue with the business community, enabling them to voice their concerns, share ideas, and provide valuable recommendations on policies and initiatives that can assist them in overcoming challenges and maximising their potential,” the Ministry said.

“The insights gathered during these interactions will be instrumental in formulating effective strategies and policies that are responsive to the needs of the business community. The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises and NPC remains committed to transparent governance, inclusive decision-making, and supporting the growth of businesses as key drivers of the national economy.”

The Finance and Public Enterprises Minister will be joined by the National Planning Commission.

The consultations will commence in the //Kharas region and will continue to Hardap, Zambezi, Otjozondjupa, and then Omaheke.
