The Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies, Patrick Pouyanné, paid a courtesy visit to Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in Windhoek on Friday, as the oil giant reaffirmed its commitment to exploring and potentially investing in Namibia’s burgeoning oil sector.

During the meeting, President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed optimism over the recent offshore oil discoveries, describing the development as timely and significant for Namibia’s economic prospects.

Pouyanné said TotalEnergies’ interest in Namibia stems from the country’s stable and investor-friendly environment.

The visit follows a major announcement last month by TotalEnergies Namibia and its joint venture partners—Impact Oil & Gas, NAMCOR, and QatarEnergy—who revealed plans to drill approximately 40 subsea wells on the Venus Field, located offshore Namibia.

Hydrocarbons from the project will be processed and stored on a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.

Namibia has attracted significant attention from global energy players following several promising offshore discoveries in recent years, positioning the country as a potential key player in Africa’s oil and gas landscape.
