The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and Antila Consultancy have partnered to host the first-ever Namibian Local Content Conference (NLCC) next month.

The conference is scheduled for 16-18 April 2024, and aims to bolster local participation in the country’s burgeoning oil and gas sector.

The conference will be held under the theme “Empowering Namibia’s Energy Ambitions by Connecting Industry and Indigenous Talent”.

The NLCC will serve as a platform for crucial dialogue between government officials, international oil companies, private sector stakeholders, and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Minister of Mines and Energy Tom Alweendo said the significance of local content policies in ensuring that the benefits of natural resource development translate into tangible gains for the local economy and population.

“Local content policies are regulations and guidelines devised by the government to ensure that developments in natural resource industries like the oil and gas industry benefit the local economy and population,” he said.

According to a joint release by NCCI and Antila Consultancy, as co-hosts of the NLCC, the entities will facilitate networking, knowledge transfer, and connecting local businesses with established industry players.

Through its Enterprise Development Programme, NCCI continues to support Namibian SMEs by offering training, access to new technologies, and funding opportunities to integrate into larger supply chains.

“NCCI and Antila Consultancy aim to disseminate essential information to the local populace and the nation at large and are hereby inviting their active participation in Namibia’s burgeoning oil and gas industry. The co-hosts of this upcoming event at Lüderitz urge government and private sector leaders and international oil companies to join in a partnership that endorses the participation in the Namibian Local Content Conference,” the release reads
