Asarian Energy Limited has secured a three-year renewal of the Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for its Norasa Uranium Project in Namibia’s Erongo Region, allowing the company to continue advancing its development plans until 11 August 2029.
The approval, granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, covers the project’s Valencia mining licence (ML149) and Namibplaas exclusive prospecting licence (EPL3638).
The Norasa Uranium Project is wholly owned by Asarian Energy through its subsidiary, Valencia Uranium (Pty) Ltd.
Asarian Energy Chief Executive Officer John Borshoff said the renewed environmental clearance represents a critical regulatory requirement for progressing the project.
“The renewal of the ECC is a critical regulatory approval lasting three years, for compliance with all environmental requirements allowing the Company to further advance the development plan for Norasa,” said Borshoff.
The renewal followed a review of the company’s environmental management practices, including waste management, emissions controls, biodiversity protection and community engagement.
The renewed certificate provides regulatory clearance for the project for the next three years, subject to compliance with applicable environmental requirements.
However, the company did not disclose a construction timeline, estimated capital expenditure or a target date for the commencement of uranium production.
Borshoff said Asarian Energy is pursuing a strategy aimed at optimising its existing assets, expanding its project portfolio and strengthening its management team as it positions itself to become a significant global uranium producer.
The strategy includes advancing the wholly owned Norasa Uranium Project while pursuing expansion opportunities in other jurisdictions through mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures.
