The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) has partnered with global company Atlas Professionals to launch the Greenhand offshore training programme in Namibia.

The initiative, aimed at equipping young Namibians with skills for the oil and gas industry, will be rolled out in Windhoek, Walvis Bay, and Lüderitz.

The Greenhand Programme, already implemented in the United Kingdom, Brazil and Suriname, offers free offshore training in partnership with international oil and gas drilling companies and international oil companies.

“I am super excited to be working with the Namibia Youth Energy Forum and other stakeholders in the country to provide this training opportunity. This programme has seen great success in the UK, Brazil, and Suriname, and I am thrilled to bring it to Namibia to upskill the youth and maximise local content,” Dorriane Zammit, International Business Development Manager at Atlas Professionals said.

NYEF Chairperson Fanuel Shinedima said the programme would open doors for young Namibians to participate in the oil and gas sector.

“We are very much excited and grateful to Atlas Professionals and all the stakeholders for making such an opportunity available for Namibian youth. This programme will upskill our youth and provide them with meaningful participation in Namibia’s oil and gas sector,” he said.

NYEF is a youth-led platform focused on empowering Namibians to take part in the country’s energy sector, including oil and gas, hydrogen, and renewables.
