The organisers of the 3rd Namibia Oil and Gas Conference (NOGC 2025) have announced the introduction of the Future Generations Masterclass, a new initiative aimed at equipping Namibia’s youth for careers in the country’s growing energy sector.

The half-day programme, delivered in partnership with the Namibia Youth Energy Forum, will focus on preparing students, graduates and young professionals for opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

It is part of the conference’s broader commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in the sector.

Speaking ahead of the event, Chairperson of the Economic Association of Namibia (EAN) and host of the conference, Jason Kasuto, said: “Our goal is to foster a vibrant ecosystem where young Namibians can see themselves as future leaders of the energy industry. Partnering with the Namibia Youth Energy Forum ensures we are not only inspiring the next generation but equipping them with the right skills and networks to contribute meaningfully to Namibia’s energy future.”

The masterclass will include two key sessions. The first, titled Fostering Leadership and Career Growth for Young Professionals in Africa’s Oil and Gas Sector – Pathways to Success, will explore leadership development, technical training, career progression, and the challenges of operating in a fast-changing sector shaped by market volatility, sustainability pressures and digitalisation.

The second session will feature mentoring and inspirational talks, where established professionals from Namibia’s oil, gas and energy industries will share their experiences, lessons learned and practical advice with aspiring entrants into the field.

Organisers say the masterclass is timely, as Namibia’s energy sector continues to evolve in the wake of major offshore oil discoveries and the global shift towards cleaner energy. Building a skilled local workforce is seen as essential to ensuring the long-term benefits of these developments are retained within the country.

The Namibia Oil and Gas Conference, under the theme “From Exploration to Action – Positioning Namibia as the Next Energy Frontier”, will take place from 12 to 15 August in Windhoek.

This year’s edition has doubled its exhibition space and expanded its networking programme to meet growing demand and encourage collaboration across the sector.

The event is hosted by the EAN in collaboration with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation. Strategic partners include the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), Rhino Resources and SNC Incorporated. The conference is officially endorsed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Organisers expect a strong turnout of local and international stakeholders, including investors, policymakers and innovators, as Namibia continues to build momentum as one of Africa’s most promising new energy frontiers.
