The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) has launched a new online mining cadastre portal, aimed at digitising and streamlining Namibia’s mineral and petroleum licensing systems.

The portal, developed on the Landfolio platform, is expected to improve transparency, efficiency, and accessibility across Namibia’s mining, diamond, and petroleum sectors.

“The public portal marks a significant advancement in Namibia’s digital transformation and aligns with our vision of enhancing efficiency through technological solutions,” said Namibia’s Mining Commissioner, Isabella Chirchir.

The launched platform according to government department, offers a centralised electronic system where registered users can manage the full life cycle of their mineral rights and petroleum licences.

This includes applying for new licences, processing renewals, amendments, and transfers, as well as submitting reports, uploading documents, making payments, and receiving real-time updates on application statuses.

An interactive map according to the ministry , is integrated into the portal allows the public to view and search mineral rights and petroleum licence data across Namibia, fostering greater transparency and public access to the country’s resource information.

The system also facilitates direct communication between stakeholders and the Ministry, enabling faster processing times and improved engagement with Namibia’s extractive industry.
