Deep-South Resources has mobilized a field crew to initiate a drilling program on the Haib copper project, located in the south of Namibia.
The company expects the first drill to be delivered to the site on or around November 10, 2023, with the second drill anticipated to arrive on or around November 15, 2023, as part of the proposed drilling program.
The primary focus of this drilling campaign is to further explore the high-grade area of the deposit discovered by Deep-South in 2019.
The initial exploration program aimed to drill up to 10,000 meters in the area. The first 5,000 meters were drilled in 2021, but the program had to be suspended when the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Namibia declined to renew the exploration and prospecting license (EPL).
“We are confident that we will deliver drilling results that will strengthen an already robust project and unlock further value for our shareholders. With the backdrop of a strong copper price, we are highly optimistic about the coming months. We are well on our way towards the development of the Haib copper project,” said Deep South President and CEO Perre Leveille.
The move comes after the Canadian company hired Namibian drilling contractor Ferrodrill Namibia to proceed with the drilling program for the Haib Copper project.
Last month, Deep-South appointed South African consultancy Knight Piésold Consulting to conduct an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) for the Haib Copper project.
