Azule Energy, in partnership with Sonangol E&P, Chevron, and TotalEnergies, has successfully completed the Quiluma and Maboqueiro offshore platforms, a key milestone in Angola’s first non-associated gas development project under the New Gas Consortium (NGC).

The NGC project is expected to play a crucial role in securing a steady gas supply to the Soyo LNG plant, reinforcing Angola’s energy security and economic growth.

The initiative includes the development of the Quiluma and Maboqueiro shallow water gas fields, featuring two offshore platforms and an onshore gas processing facility.

Alister Forder, Chief Operating Officer of Azule Energy, hailed the project’s progress, stating, “Today’s milestone is a reflection of the collaborative spirit, technical expertise, and dedication of all partners involved in the NGC project. As we prepare for NGC First Gas, this project reaffirms our commitment to unlocking Angola’s energy potential and contributing to a sustainable energy future.”

Azule Energy recently completed the acquisition of a 42.5% interest in Block 2914A (PEL85) in Namibia’s Orange Basin.

Azule Energy is a 50/50 independent joint venture established on August 1, 2022, combining bp and Eni’s Angolan businesses. As Angola’s largest independent oil and gas producer, the company holds net resources of 2 billion barrels of oil equivalent and plans to grow production to approximately 250,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) over the next four years.

Azule Energy holds stakes in 18 licenses, participates in Angola LNG Limited, operates the New Gas Consortium, and is a shareholder in Solenova, a solar energy company jointly held with Sonangol.
