Andrada Namibia’s local economic contribution rises to N$716 m in FY2025

Andrada Mining Limited Namibia has reported a sharp rise in its local economic contribution, reaching N$716.7 million (£31.39 million) for the financial year ending 28 February 2025, according to the company’s FY2025 Sustainability Report.

The report shows that revenue grew by 33% to N$543.2 million (£23.8 million), up from N$410.4 million (£17.97 million) in FY2024.

The increase was driven by higher tin, lithium, and tantalum production and improved operational efficiency at the company’s Uis Mine in Erongo.

Government royalties rose by 35% to N$14.9 million (£652,270), while tax contributions surged nearly fourfold to N$41.1 million (£1.8 million). Wages and salaries paid to employees totalled N$98.4 million (£4.31 million), supporting hundreds of Namibian livelihoods.

Procurement from Namibian suppliers also climbed to N$576.6 million (£25.28 million), accounting for 87% of total expenditure.

“The past year tested the mining sector’s resilience, and we responded with disciplined execution, transparency, and measurable progress across the priorities that matter most, namely people, planet, and trust,” said Andrada Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Viljoen.

Viljoen said community investments more than doubled during the year, reaching N$1.12 million (£49,084), focusing on education and water access in host communities.

“Notably, no community grievances were recorded during the year following the rollout of a formal grievance mechanism aligned with IFC Performance Standards, a major improvement from eight grievances in FY2024,” he said.

The report further noted that Andrada generated an estimated N$305.2 million (£13.38 million) in indirect economic benefits through multiplier effects, based on the World Bank (2019) methodology.

Viljoen said the company’s workforce grew to 277 direct employees and 278 contractors, with 98% being Namibian nationals.

“Women represented 20% of the total workforce, including 18% of leadership roles at the corporate level and 36% of senior management positions at the operational level,” he stated.

He added that Andrada continued to record strong safety performance.

“The Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate improved to 0.00 per million hours worked, compared to 3.02 in FY2024, while the Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate dropped by 25% to 5.07. The Fatal Injury Frequency Rate remained at zero for the third consecutive year, reinforcing our ‘zero harm’ commitment,” Viljoen said.

According to him, over 461 hours of health and safety training were delivered to employees and contractors during FY2025 as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen workplace safety and operational excellence.
