
Ongwe Minerals Inc. plans a further 3,500 metres of drilling at its Khorixas Gold Project in north-western Namibia after scout drilling intersected high-grade gold mineralisation at the Belmont Prospect.
The company reported that reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the BK2 target returned several notable intersections, including 3 metres at 9.21 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 17 metres and 3 metres at 6.45 g/t from 70 metres in hole BKR010.
Hole BKR019 intersected 7 metres at 3.23 g/t gold from 78 metres, alongside narrower zones grading 4.70 g/t and 1.11 g/t gold.
Ongwe Chief Executive Officer Dave Underwood said the results confirmed high-grade gold associated with complex geological structures and sulphide mineralisation at BK2.
“The recent RC scout drilling at the Belmont BK2 target has confirmed that there is high-grade gold associated with complex folding and a late-stage influx of sulphides including pyrrhotite, pyrite and arsenopyrite,” he said.
“The initial intersections at BK2 are narrow, but the grades are very encouraging including 7m @ 3.23g/t in hole BKR019 and 3m @ 9.61g/t and 3m @ 6.45g/t in hole BKR010.”
The results form part of a 1,979-metre RC drilling programme comprising 20 holes across the BK2, BK7 and BK13 targets.
Ongwe said only two of the 20 holes, BKR010 and BKR019, intersected significant gold mineralisation, indicating that the mineralised zones are structurally controlled.
The company now plans an additional 3,500 metres of drilling at Belmont during the remainder of 2026, comprising 2,000 metres of RC drilling and 1,500 metres of diamond drilling.
The programme will target BK1, BK2, BK8 and the Plains anomaly.
BK8 hosts a 1.5-kilometre-long surface gold anomaly with soil values of up to 1.49 g/t gold, while the Plains target contains a two-kilometre-long in-situ gold anomaly.
“Given the structural complexity of these types of deposits, the next phase of drilling will be with a diamond rig so that we can start understanding the structural and lithological controls of the mineralization,” Underwood said.
“The BK8 target is also a very compelling undrilled target with a wide surface gold footprint over 1.5km in length and soil samples as high as 1.49 g/t Au.”
Ongwe is also stepping up exploration at its K17 copper-gold prospect, where geochemical work has identified an eight-by-seven-kilometre mineralised footprint.
A two-phase geophysical programme is scheduled to begin in October to identify deeper copper-gold targets ahead of planned drilling in the second quarter of 2027.
Underwood said the first phase will involve deep-looking magnetotelluric (MT) and gravity surveys, expected to take about two months.
“We are also ramping up activity at the K17 prospect with two phases of geophysics designed to produce copper-gold intrusion related drill targets for testing in the second quarter of 2027,” he said.
“The Phase 1 deep looking MT and gravity program kicks off in October and should take about two months to complete.”
A second phase involving induced polarisation surveying is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
The Khorixas Gold Project is located about 50 kilometres west of Osino Resources’ Eureka gold deposit and hosts the Belmont and K17 prospects. Belmont covers an approximately 12-by-six-kilometre surface gold footprint.
