The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) plans to launch a N$10 million Youth Energy Fund, an initiative aimed at empowering young Namibians and strengthening local content in the energy sector.

“This initiative has been a long-standing goal for us. We are proud to see it take shape, and we are deeply grateful to our partners who have walked this journey with us. The Youth Energy Fund is more than just financial support, it is a strategic tool to unlock potential, strengthen local content, and create meaningful opportunities for Namibian youth,” said Fanuel Shinedima, Director and Chairperson of the NYEF Management Board.

The fund is designed to support professionals, youth-owned businesses and SMEs operating in and around the energy sector, with a focus on oil and gas as well as emerging industries serving the energy value chain. It will also provide targeted support to young professionals.

NYEF said capital will be allocated to youth-led enterprises with scalable potential. Financing will be made available for energy-related infrastructure projects, particularly in Lüderitz and Walvis Bay, identified as Namibia’s emerging energy hubs.

The fund will also back local content and contract financing, enabling local businesses to participate in procurement and service delivery.

In addition, it will provide growth support and capacity building, including technical assistance, business development services and training to improve competitiveness and sustainability.

According to NYEF, the initiative aligns with its mission to educate, inspire and create opportunities for youth in the energy sector, while complementing government’s call for inclusive, private-sector-led development.
