Golden Deeps says it has commenced a new diamond drilling programme at the Nosib copper-silver deposit, located on its Otavi Mountain Land (OML) tenements in northern Namibia.
The programme aims to explore potential extensions of the deposit, focusing on areas to the west and at depth.
Previous drilling at Nosib identified a zone of copper-vanadium-lead-silver oxide mineralisation near the surface, which underpinned the maiden mineral resource announced in June 2024.
At greater depths, this oxide mineralisation transitions into a copper-silver strata bound sulphide deposit hosted within Nosib Formation clastic sediments, a unique setting compared to the predominantly carbonate-hosted deposits in the region, such as Tsumeb.
“Golden Deeps Ltd (ASX: GED) has commenced a new diamond drilling programme which is testing extensions of the Nosib strata bound copper-silver deposit on its Otavi Mountain Land tenements in northern Namibia,” a release by the company says.
The company reported that results from earlier drilling include an intersection of 44.22m at 0.50% copper and 3.2 g/t silver from a depth of 34.8m, including a semi-massive sulphide zone of 0.49m grading 10.3% copper and 56.9 g/t silver.
These findings suggest that the copper-silver sulphide zone is thickening and improving in grade to the west and at greater depths.
The current drilling campaign includes up to three diamond drill holes, totalling approximately 330 metres, designed to test the continuity of the sulphide zone.
The first hole is underway and targets an area down-dip of previous drilling. Step-out holes on 20-meter intervals will assess potential extensions of the deposit further west.
Golden Deeps has a dual exploration focus on the world-class terranes of the Lachlan Fold Belt copper-gold province of NSW, Australia, and the Otavi Mountain Land copper-lead-zinc-silver and vanadium district of Namibia.
In Namibia, Golden Deeps has been exploring several critical metals deposits in the Otavi Mountain Land.
These include high-grade, supergene, vanadium +/- copper, lead, zinc and silver deposits as well as primary copper-silver sulphide deposits.
The Company recently announced new mineral resources for the Abenab high-grade vanadium (lead, zinc) project, the Nosib vanadium-copper-lead-silver deposit and the Khusib Springs silver-copper deposit.
Both the Nosib and Khusib Springs copper-silver sulphide deposits remain open at depth and to the west.
