Namibia Critical Metals anticipates receiving the drilling assay results for its Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) on the Lofdal 2B-4 heavy rare earth project in Namibia in January 2024, along with an updated mineral resource estimate in February 2024.

This follows the announcement of the completion of the final phase of drilling for the PFS by the mining and exploration company.

In total, the infill and resource expansion drilling for the PFS phase covered 10,823 meters (m) in 56 boreholes drilled over the last few months.

“The main aim of the drilling campaign was to significantly increase the measured and indicated resource categories to comply with the requirements of a PFS,” Namibia Critical Metals President Darrin Campbell said.

“Beyond this, field logging supports our concept of an extension of the orebody in the southwestern part of Area 4, which demonstrates the potential to unlock further mineralization in the future.”

The final drill phase included seven very deep reverse circulation (RC) boreholes, totaling 2,597m, in the Area 4 main deposit.

Lofdal is home to a globally significant reserve of dysprosium and terbium, critical heavy rare earth metals essential in the production of permanent magnets for electric vehicles, wind turbines, and various electronic devices.
